Tuesday, February 7, 2023 - Packer Day
The February cow sale consisted of mostly
herd reductions along with one dispersion of middle aged March
calvers.
They sold in small packages from
1875.00-2100 and were probably the most attractive cows sold tonite!
Young cows 5 and
under topped at $2100 with the most attractive end selling from
$1550-$2000.
The balance of these traded from
$1400 & down.
Older bred cows in the 3rd
period topped at $1400 and because of the higher kill market these
cows brought more than they would have just a couple weeks ago
Several pairs were offered but all were
older cows with late fall calves at side and they topped at $1700.
475 slaughter cattle including 200 fed steers and heifers that sold with good demand on a 167.25 top. Overall the market traded steady with last week.
Slaughter cows sold 4.00-5.00 higher on the breakers and boners but cutters traded mostly steady. Bulls also sold 4.00-5.00 higher with more numbers than last couple of weeks.
