| A nice crowd gathered for the April Cow Sale and it featured over 150 pairs | ||||
| with about 100 of these two year olds with their first babies! $3850 was | ||||
| the top selling group of 3 with the top end ranging from $2,400 to $3100. | ||||
| The rest of the pairs were more mature cows with calves at side and they | ||||
| topped at $3050. The majority of these sold $2,000 to $2500 with the balance | ||||
| selling at $1900 and down. A small sampling of breeding bulls topped | ||||
| at $3000 on a fancy 2 year old Angus bull. | ||||
| The balance of the sale consisted of 2nd and 3rd period cows with calving | ||||
| dates from late spring to fall. The top on these cows was $1825 with a | ||||
| large percentage trading from $1300 to $1800. | ||||
| 439 slaughter cattle including 175 fed steers and heifers that sold with good | ||||
| demand. Top today was 175.50. Overall condition not as attractive as | ||||
| last couple of weeks. | ||||
| The cow trade was active and they traded mostly steady with quality very | ||||
| up and down throughout the sale. The slaughter bull trade however was | ||||
| very active and sold 5.00-8.00 higher. Top bull was 138.00 cwt. | ||||
