Tuesday, February 1, 2022 - Packer Day--Breeding Stock
463 slaughter cattle including 168 fed steers and heifers that sold with good demand on a 149.50 top. Overall the market raded 1.00 to 1.50 higher!
Slaughter cow trade was very active as the trade was fully 3.00 higher! Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady.
The February cow sale consisted of 260hd of mostly 3rd period cows from
6yrs to aged. A handful of young cows topped at $2,025.00 with the best
end of these ranging from $1,600 to $2,020. A smaller framed less
appealing end sold from $1,425 and down.
Middle aged 3rd period topped at $1,550 with most selling from
$1,100 - $1,500. Older cows 9 years and up topped at $1,375.00 with
the most attractive end of these selling from $1,100 to $1,350.
A handful of bred heifers topped at $1,925 with the most appealing end
of these trading from $1,450 - $1,925.
A package of short and solid mouth cows with calves at side left the
ring at $1,500.
