Tuesday, December 7, 2021 - Packer Day-Breeding Stock Sale
The December bred cow
sale was well attended and consisted of 90 test bulls, 47 pairs and
437 bred cows. The bulk
of the breds were 2nd period with a handful of 3rd
periods and a few 1st periods.
The best demand was for the spring calving black cows with
solid calving dates from dispersions or herd reductions!
The best pairs topped at $1900 with the bulk selling from
$1250 to $1700. The majority of
these were from six years to aged cows.
The bred cows topped out at $2075 with the most attractive
end of the 3-6 year old cows in the 2nd period ranging mostly from
$1550 to $2000. The next cut traded
from $1200 to $1500 with the smaller framed or less attractive end selling at
$1200 and down!
The 7 to 9 year old cows topped at $1600 with the majority
of these in a range from $1050 to $1500.
Older, smaller and less appealing of these middle aged to aged cows
traded from $1000 and down.
The best package of bred heifers sold for $1975 with the
rest from $1750 and down.
