Tuesday, March 2,  2021 - Packer Day-Bred Cow Sale

A nice crowd gathered for the March cow sale which consisted of 9 test bulls, 9 pairs and 220 test cows.

The breeding bulls sold mostly from $1300-$1500.  Top on the pairs was $1825 with most of these having young calves at their side.  3rd period bred cows topped at $1850 with the best end selling from $1450-$1775.  Middle aged 3rd periods traded mostly from $1200-$1575 with older or plainer 3rd period bred cows bringing $1175 & down.  Bred cows in the 2nd period were not near as popular and topped at $1400 with the bulk bringing $900-$1300.  Older and thinner cows traded from $900 and down!

361 slaughter cattle including 183 fed steers & heifers that sold with moderate demand on a lower market.  Overall quality
and condition not as attractive as last week and also several more carrying extra mud.  A few consignments were
showing more fat as buyers seemed to back away from these steers & heifers more than they had been previously.
