Tues., December 4, 2018 - Packer Day-Breeding Stock

A very good crowd was in attendance with moderate buyer interest and takers for everything at a price.  The older cows were much cheaper as the slaughter market is the lowest in years.  Therefore, buyers looking for older short term cows have little competition from the packers.  The weather and scarcity of good hay are also factors in cow prices right now but things should improve with the freeze up and typically as it usually does after the 1st of the year.

19 pairs sold with 4-6 year old black pairs with those weighing 1320-1650# bringing $1150-$1300 and the rest $1050/down

184 bred cows sold and consisted of 90% 2nd periods with very few 1st or 3rd periods.
