Tues., February 6, 2018 - Packer Day/Cow Sale

208 bred cows sold with 60% of the run 6 years and younger.  The weather reduced the crowd to a small gathering possibly affecting prices somewhat. 

A few bred heifers brought from $1225 to $1475 for the best with a few smaller and wild ones $975/down.

There were 60 head of 3-4 year olds with the top 40 head bringing from $1425 to $1750 averaging $1511.  Smaller cows and 2nd periods brought from $975 to $1225.  The 5-6 year olds sold from $1175 to $1460 and lesser quality including small cows and 2nd periods from $910 to $1050.  7-8 year olds brought $1050 to $1250 for the best and from $675 to $1000 for the rest.

Older cows saw prices for 9 year olds to short-solids in a range of $1050 to $1260 for the very best and $725 to $1,000 for lower quality and 2nd periods.  Aged cows brought from $1000 to $1210 for the top end and a small premium to kill price for the rest.

Thursday the 15th of February is the next feeder sale and will feature weaned and vaccinated feeders along with the rest.

Yesterday's late afternoon snow help limit receipts for today's slaughter sale, but the market wasn't cold as steers & heifers sold steady to 2.00 higher!  Top was 132.50 on steers.

Cull cows were active and sold mostly 1.00 higher.  Bulls sold steady.  Couple packages of fed bulls sold form 109.00-114.50.
