Evening Cow Special

37 pairs and 169 bred cows sold to a small harvest time crowd, but an aggressive one. The vast majority of the cows were 7 years old and younger and bred for spring calving in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Overall quality was very good, and with the exception of a few overly fat cows, were in excellent condition. There were four complete dispersions.

11 bred heifers sold with a group of purebred Angus weighing 1015# bringing $1550 with the rest at $900-$1200.

60 head of 3-4 year old cows saw the best sell between $1400 and a top of $1750. Average brought $1000 to $1350, and the lower end $950/down.

50 head of 5-6 year olds sold from $1300 to $1550 for the top end with the middle cut from $1000 to $1250 and the rest $950 and down.

23 head of 7-8 years old brought $1000-$1175 for the best and $950/down for the rest.

Older cows 9-years and up sold with a small premium to the slaughter cow market as usual going into the winter.

Don’t forget the CAB feeder sale Saturday. Over 2200 head of weaned and vaccinated black cattle will be in the sale and the quality will be outstanding. Sale is sponsored by the La Moine Valley Angus Association.
