Regular Sale
Market
Report 2-18-16
Buyers were
very active for this short run of top feeders before Saturday’s big special.
Once again the coming of the grass season was a factor as cattlemen are
thinking ahead to it and buying the greener grazing types at good prices.
There was a huge price difference in calves that had been weaned,
vaccinated, and neutered opposed to those that were not. Paying the vet
would be cheap when comparing the figures.
Light 200#
steers and heifers brought from $190 to $230 for most and we had several. 3
to 4 wts had steers from $190 to $195 and heifers from $160 to $186 for the
very few head offered. 4-weights were mostly heifers and brought from $150
to $175. 5-wt steers sold between $174 and $195 and heifers were $145 to
$169. 6-wts were mostly steer and went $155 to $179.50.
A hand full
of bred cows ranged from $1100 to $1525. There were not enough weigh cows to
determine a market.
Saturday’s
weaned (over 30 days) and vaccinated (7-way, the virals, and pasteurella—at
least one full round) is growing rapidly. The original 1200 head prediction
was far too low. 1500 to 2000 head are now very possible. Stay tuned.
