Tuesday, May 5, 2015 Packer Sale/Bred Cow Sale

Tuesday evenings cow & bull sale consisted of 9 breeding bulls, 115 pairs, and 93 bred cows.  There were plenty of interest in tonight's offering even though the best prices and the most interest was in last month's sale.

Top pairs brought $3175 with the young cows with calves weighing 100-200# selling from $2800-$3175.

Middle aged cows with calves sold from $2400 to $2750

Older cows with calves at side $2300/down

Cows that were plainer in their appearance or had calves that were smaller with more risk for the buyers sold at the lower end of the above quotations.

Bred cows:  Young cows in 2nd or 3rd stage 0 $1750 to $2250; Middle age cows in 2nd or 3rd stage - $1500 to $2000; Older cows in 2nd or 3rd stage $1750/down

Breeding bulls topped at $2875

                

175 fed cattle today and the market was generally steady to firm with last week.  Top today was 168.00 with the bulk of the strictly choice cattle selling from 159.00-164.00.  Several marginal graders were purchased and sent back to feedlots for more finish.

150+ cull cows & bulls were both active and sold 2-4 higher!
