360 fat cattle sold topping at $142.50 with most of the clean choice cattle in the $138-$142 range. The same cattle carrying mud or manure were obviously discounted. Selects sold from $132 to $137.50. A few with larger carcasses were 'heavily' discounted. This was a record setting day for fed cattle at the sale barn for both numbers and prices. 259 cows were weighed for slaughter and the market was very good. Premium cows brought in the 90's, better boners and breakers in the 80's and the best lean cows in the 70's. Older, slower, extra full, and very thin cows sold at lower figures.
20 bulls sold topping at $100.50 for some extra high yielding. They dropped into the 90's for less than the best while thinner less desirable ones fell into the 70's and 80's.
221 bred cows-All from the Larry Korth herd, sold in the evening. Most were 8 yrs and up in age, but were big, strong, and still very productive. The few 6 year olds brought $1550-$1700. The bulk of the older cows sold for $1250 to $1600
