Tuesday, February 11, 2014 - Packer Sale & Bred cow Sale

With the temperature readings 15-18 below this morning, the cattle amrket was also a lot cooler than last week as slaughter steers & heifers sold 5.00-6.00 lower.  Steer top was 139.75.  Lower box trade has been the main culprit!

231 head sold in the evening bred cow sale after 205 head went to slaughter from the morning sale.  Bred cows and cow/calf pairs were in demand in this well attended sale.  Prices were good for the kind offered and bidding was brisk.  The strong slaughter cow market plus the big demand for feeder cattle is fueling the market for bred stock with both young and old cows very popular.
