Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 2014 - Packer Day & Bred Cow Sale

A smaller run of fed cattle, but a big run of cull cows in Fairview today.  Steer top was 154.25 but without significant numbers to test the upper limits of grade or yield.  Cull cow buyers are still active in trying to acquire numbers and the market responded with near 50% bringing 100.00 or more!

310 head sold at tonight's breeding stock sale.  Corn planting kept the crowd on the sparse side, but those in attendance came to buy cattle.  Overall quality of everything was very good.

 12 breeding bulls averaged $2425 with a $3600 top
123 cow/calf pairs averaged $2300 with a $3125 top
62 bred cows averaged $1760 topping at $2275

Thursday feeder sale will feature 1200+ calves and yearlings.  13 pot loads of black yearling steers will sell along with 600# calves.
