Tuesday, June 3,  2014 - Packer Day

Slaughter steers & heifers sold mostly steady with last week's market.  Heifers led the way with the top end selling from 150.00 to 151.00.

The cull cow trade remains very active with some premium grading cows as high as 125.25.  Over 100 cows topped the 100.00 market.  Bull top was 125.25.

160 cattle were in the special cow sale.  This was a good number for the time of year as most pastures are full and established.  Breeding bulls easily found homes, pairs were pretty average in quality, but sold well and the later calving cows although a little short on quality and condition had plenty of takers.  Lack of rain resulting in slow growing grass and the time of year were big factors in cow prices today.

Breeding Bulls - 8 head - $1800-$3500

Cow/Calf Pairs - 42 - averaged $2265 with a $2650 top

Bred Cows averaged $1800 topping at $2,000
