A steady market on slaughter steers & heifers in Fairview today with a top of
130.75.
Cow buyers continue to stay aggressive as several cows topped the 80.00 mark.
198 head in tonight's breeding stock sale. Included were 6 breeding
bulls, 143 bred cows and 24 pairs. Pairs were very popular bringing 41500
to a top of $2075. A few older and smaller pairs brought less. 13
young black cows from a 20 head dispersion averaged $1926 with a top of $2,000.
After the pairs and the dispersion sold, the rest of the run consisted of mostly
older cows with a scant few young ones scattered in. The older cows
brought a premium to slaughter price of $50-$100 per head.
